Nice job, Toogy! I applaud your gusto and drive. Cheers!
You can just ride them on a mtb trail with a dropper.
Another great day riding/racing bikes, with friends
You got that right!
How are you liking the Marin Alpine Trail 7?
I love it! the new one they just released looks even better, but probably overkill for the stuff I ride usually.
@@ToogyHowser oh ok. I didn’t know they had a new one lol. I’ll have check that out lol
I’m so lucky to have these trails in my backyard. They have built a lot more since this video. Hopefully u can you can come back and explore them!!
you are! I'm hoping to get up there again, but won't be until next year!
Good run, I was in the same category as you in the race.
I was in the U-18 group.
Ya don’t see why they rated it double black. It’s not even steep.
yeah I think it should be single black to be honest
your legs are shut because you are hinging at your knees not hips
Interesting, you're probably right! I need to get better at that!
What do you mean? I don't understand the body physics here.
Nice work @ToogyHowser you are doing well and hopefully having fun. What did you end up finishing?
hahah, I think there was only 2 below me, so not great lol
@@ToogyHowser That is great in your life. Take that as a win. When I went to Ireland to race the Red Bull Fox Hunt in 2017 I had a bad crash, but I got up and finished the race. I was happy that I finished and I actually beat people. Sore as help and probably should have gone to the hospital. I have the memories, experience, and a lot of new friends. Well worth the pain. Keep racing. I have been off the bike a long time as I mentioned in a previous comment from your Killington video, but I am thinking of an enduro race in the Eastern States Cup in September or October.
is this race just a one trail race or did you do sevaral timed trails on race day?
it was just this trail, it was considered a downhill race, so just one and done
Good run. You kept your feet on the pedals and finished upright.
Yep and that's always a good thing!
Toogy! Basically living vicariously through you right now since i seem to have zero time to ride anymore but damn between you and @theprfctline i keep seeing and hhearing how good these trails are. Gotta somehow check them out soon.
Hey Man! yeah you do need to check out Holimont! It's great and just keeps getting better, they are opening another new trail this weekend
Just like you, my favorite part of racing is the pre riding with your buddies, finding the fast lines.
yeah I definitely like the challenge of signing up for a race, it keeps me motivated, but the actual race itself, not sure lol
Well when you strted your channel your skills were like mine...and now you are killing it and I improved but not like you... just continue what you are doing...you look fantastic.
Thanks man! You're right, I guess I just sometimes expect myself to be better than I actually am! But how many other 49 year olds are doing this?? so that's a win in itself!
Looked fast to me! Now you got an official time on that course, next time you go back use a little stop watch and just time your normal run. Plus I fine the more I do "speed runs" the more I get use to going faster and so my slow runs start to get faster too. Making my fast runs even faster.
yeah I'm sure if I had more experience on this trail my run would have been faster
Dont beat yourself up. If you race for fun your like the rest of us. Huffing puffing and trying to hold on. If you want to be more competitive its a lifestyle. Heavy exercise, fitness, arobic, strength and stamina training required. Something us regular 9 to 5 joes and gills with families and other responsibilities dont have the time for. The fact that you go out to push yourself and have fun will make you a better rider in the long run.
yeah I don't really want to take it that seriously, but at the same time, that competitive fire makes me not want to be last either lol
Yeah it’s a single black trail. Try scarecrow, Yo Vinny, Foxy Roxy
I rode a few of those trails last time I was there in 2019, but the K1 Gondola wasn't open when we were there..... I do agree that Goat Skull should be rated single black
I went on this trail for the first time in July 2024 and definitely an improvenment vs. the video. St. Thomas really has improved, and I only went on the green MTB trail.I had to go twice as It was fun. 😀 Whew! That blue trail looks fun, and more longer. I'll have to ride this one the next time I'm in St. Thomas with my mountain bike . Thanks for sharing this video 🚴♂
I need to do a new video! It's improved a lot since I posted this!
@@ToogyHowser You should. Hopefully you can post a video of the Black Diamond Trail too!
I love my deity deftraps - good size and also cheap. Oneup composites are pretty solid too
Im very confused, in the beginning of the video you are on snowshed, then there is a random clip of you on ramshead complaining about your tire???
This video shows your human, nobodys perfect. Clipping that tree my 1st thought was um from 40 yr old virgin movie drunk girl driving hits somebody shes just like THAT F8E7ER CAME OUT OF NOWHERE 😂. Nice that you dont edit out your fails, so many do its just unrealistic.
It “sucked” but at least you did it, thats more than a bunch of people can say
Thanks! and you're right!
Has youtube shown you my stuff? I come here, AndreLaurentMTB and a guy local to me that rides roads mostly RitchieRides. Havent found much else I like thats new lately, now that you mentioned it there is a lot less especially in Canada.
I will have to check out your channel!
Makes a huge difference for sure. I thought I needed a better bike with my Devinci Riff, then I started doing DDP YOGA, lost 30lbs gained a ton of muscle, dont need a new bike. 10 minutes every day in the morning, easy workout, then followed their easy schedule it worked wonders for my biking and myself overall
Nice to hear youre feeling back to normal. Been wanting to hit a good ride myself, sadly Sudbury is bare of bike parks and my stamina sucks lately. Been trying to tell city council hey youre complaining youre losing money on the 3 ski hills we have, well make em bike parks people will love it. Imagine Sudbury added 3 lift access parks to the several bike trail centers we already have.
that would be great if Sudbury got some lift assisted trails!
I feel ya on the motivation. Often lately I lose it too, I started having seizures about 2 years ago after 5 years of none. It was in that 5 years I got back in to mountain biking and decided hey lets do a youtube channel. Not for any fame or notoriety but because it was fun and gave me a reason to explore. So the last 2 years I still ride but not as much, as you can imagine some days Im really sore from a recent seizure and just want to rest. Then 2 months ago I was hit by a car biking to work, really messed up my back and shoulder, still healing so less biking. Its also taking forever to get my new bike, it was totaled. I write this laid up on my couch after a seizure last night unable to move my arm and neck, messed up that shoulder from the van that hit me. Really wanted a ride today, just got my own new bike while still waiting on my wrecked Devinci to be replaced, seems going from that 29 to trying a 27.5 gave me some motivation. Keep making yours and I’ll keep making mine, I love your channel because youre so close in Ontario, thats rare, and a regular joe like me. Honestly prefer watching guys not jumping and more keeping their wheels on the ground cause theyre more like me. AndreLaurentMTB, I watch his videos in Toronto again because hes more like me and close. So, just know youre making content some people like, us regular joes out for the ride not the thrills…….though riding is a thrill. I know 1 things for sure, seeing a guy with epilepsy biking is rare, part of my why is to show we can.
Reminds me of way back before we had trails, we’d ride hunting trails, hiking trails, quad trails or just no trail at all go where your bike fit between the trees. Love rides like that, you never know what you’ll find especially in Northern Ontario. Everyone and their uncle has a quad, skidoo or dirtbike and makes their own trails everywhere.
That's a double black diamond run.?????????... Good thing your all on 7000 dollar bikes.. Lmfao..... any real jumps or rollers you can gap..... this looks like a beginner run....Ontario trails are lame lame lame.
I will agree with you that Ontario trails are pretty lame compared to most other areas! And yeah it's double black rated because it's the hardest trail there. If they were rated based on other areas every single trail at the Hyrdrocut would be green rated and then how would beginners know where to start? This trail is certainly not beginner friendly even if it's not double black....
Raced this trail at the Eastern States DH Cup last season, its so fun once you really get going
Excellent riding Toogy, this thing with Marin works for you well.
Thanks! I enjoy this group of guys I ride with!
TEAM MARIN! Actually kinda excited for their DH bike. If it ever comes out. Hope they do a frame only option.
Aggressive tires will always pick up and throw more gravel, .... nothing new there .. Maybe time for a small fender or frame tape. I have '20 X10 and the brakes can always lock up the tires, what more braking could one possibly want!? Brakes get a bad rap, unfortunately!
The frame looks similar to the ozark trail
Would be even better i didnt have to pedal so far. Lots of trail building happening at holimont. Theres a new black tech trail on the other side of mountain face called dirty bird too.
Can’t wait to check that out! Where abouts does it start?
Hey at least it was open to ride!
That forks looks a bit to stiff
Interesting... You were one of the first RUclipsrs I watched. My first bike was the Roscoe 6. Then I started a channel and ended up taking it down completely. I eventually re-uploaded some stuff under a new name, but while I still love riding, YT and even watching YT mtb videos just doesn't interest me as much. I honestly didn't even know that you were back making videos. Glad to see you back. It's not about busyness or the lack thereof. It's all about what we prioritize. Priorities often change. I do miss it every once in a while - the making of videos.
Best of both worlds : mullet
You missed a spot when shaving your moustache, and it looks like a very small version of a certain failed Austrian painter. 😂
All the rain they got last year really took a toll on side show Bob. The top half used to be so smooth. It’s so washed out and rock now. Dare I say it rides a bit like a tech trail 😅
I kinda like it that way!
Killington is awesome
Yes it is!!
About the air chamber: ¿Wich oil should we use ? i have the WPL forkboost oil and i´m wondering if it will be ok to add a little bit on the air chamber, i think it´s a bit heavy/thik oil and i don´t wanna make it worst.
We spend 5 days riding Killington recently! It was a blast.
man I wish I could have spent 5 days there! And we went one week too early! the gondola trails weren't open yet.
Gotta luv the Beast of the East
Cue the Led Zeppelin song....look at you doing the big drop no problem.Great job
Thanks! I hit that the day before a few times, so it wasn't TOO sketchy hitting it in the rain lol
I’m the guy in the white wearing horns
how did you clean the bike? Does camp fortune have water tap to hook up garden hose?
Which hotel did stay at? What hotel do you recommend?
I just stayed in my van, camped overnight in the Velo MSM parking lot which is about 45 mins north of Camp Fortune, since I was going to be riding there the next day anyways.

I was looking for info on Holimont and couldn't find much except for your video which inspired my son and I to give it a try. Well we went there today - - our first time at an actual bike park - and who did we see but Toogy Howser himself in the lift line a couple of times just 2 people ahead of us!! Hope your races went well today and thanks for the great videos!!
That's awesome! I love reading comments like this! it's one reason I continue to make videos, I know this sport can be intimidating and I try and show people that if I can do it, you can do it! Glad you had a great time at Holimont! It's a great bike park! Next time say Hi!
